LAHORE, Pakistan (AP) Officials say a gas explosion in the Pakistani city of Faisalabad has caused several buildings to collapse and killed a dozen people.
City official Tariq Sardar says another 28 people were wounded when gas cylinders stored in a two-story building exploded Wednesday. The building collapsed along with several adjoining shops. Rescue workers are searching for other victims feared buried under the rubble. Sardar says the cylinders belonged to a business that was supplying ammonia gas to nearby hospitals. He says the business was operating illegally. Copyright 2008 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
