BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (AP) An EMI Christian Music Group official says the company plans to lay off an unspecified number of employees at its Brentwood headquarters.
EMI spokeswoman Jeanne Meyer on Wednesday would not say how many people would be laid off from the Christian group, where about 250 people work. Meyer said the layoffs are part of London-based EMI Group PLC's plans to reduce its total workforce by 1,500 to 2,000 workers. The layoffs are expected to be completed by June and are part of an overall restructuring of the music company, which was acquired by the private equity firm Terra Firma last year. EMI said the overhaul would allow its labels, which include Capitol and Virgin, to spot and sign new artists and better handle existing ones. Copyright 2008 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
