Robin Blaser's The Holy Forest, a 500-page serial poem written over five decades, is among the Canadian nominees for the 2008 Griffin Poetry Prize, one of the world's most lucrative poetry awards. The Canadian shortlist, announced Tuesday in Toronto, also includes Nicole Brossard's Notebook of Roses and Civilization, translated from French by Robert Majzels and Erin Moure, and David W. McFadden's Why Are You So Sad? The winner, to be announced June 4, will receive $50,000. Another $50,000 will go to the winner of the international competition. Its four shortlisted titles are:
