Police have surrounded a convenience store in the east end after the store's owner locked a robbery suspect inside. Officers converged on the store on Kennedy Rd. south of Ellesmere Rd. at around 10 a.m. after receiving a report of an attempted robbery. The owner of the store is believed to have happened upon the robbery in progress and locked the unidentified man inside the store before contacting police. Members of Toronto Police's 41 Division and Emergency Task Force officers have encircled the building and blocked traffic on Kennedy Rd. between Ellesmere and Shropshire Dr. There was no immediate word on whether anyone else was in the store at the time.
